How to use WhereTo: a night out for two, picked in two minutes
Say when you are free and what you feel like, separately or one for both, and get up to three feasible options in Bucharest, with verified hours and prices.
The situation
It is Friday, 6:30 pm. One says "shall we go out?", the other says "where?", and an hour of scrolling follows through ten apps that show you places, not decisions. WhereTo works the other way round: it starts from the two of you and gives you at most three options you can actually do in the time you have.
Open whereto.purceas.com and tap Pick (Alege). No account needed.
Step 1: when, and for how long
The first two questions are about time, because a great outing that does not fit your evening does not help:
- When are you going out? Now (the next two hours), Tonight, Tomorrow, This weekend or Another day.
- How much time do you have? Any, about an hour, two, three, or a whole afternoon, travel included.
WhereTo drops anything closed at that hour or that cannot be done in the time given.
Step 2: what you feel like
Tick what you like, as many as you want: Relaxing, Conversation, Romantic, Dancing, Adventure, Culture, Sport, Food, Going out, Nature. Then the pace: Calm, Normal or Active.
The part that makes the difference is The two of you. There are four ways to answer:
- I fill it in for both of us, when you know what the other one wants.
- Each of us separately, on the same phone, one after the other.
- Send a link: your partner answers on their own phone without seeing your choices.
- My partner, on their phone, if you have both already started.
Step 3: the three options
You get up to three options. Each shows hours and prices as published by the venue, with the source and the verification date next to them. Weather counts: a terrace will not top the list in the rain.
Why only three? Because choosing between three good options takes a minute; choosing between forty never ends.
Step 4: vote and put it in the calendar
The chosen option becomes a plan with its own link. Each of you votes. When you both pick the same one, the "You agreed" card appears, with a calendar entry (.ics file) and everything you need: address, hours, price.
What else is there
- Map: the venues and this week's events, on a map.
- Explore and Saved: browse without deciding now and keep what you like.
- Optional account, with a passkey: plans, saved places and reminders stay with you, no password.
- The Android app: download it from "Download the app"; on iPhone, add the site to your home screen.
What to remember
- Start from time: when you go out and how long you have, travel included.
- Each person states what they feel like; "Send a link" keeps answers separate.
- You get at most three options, with source and verification date on hours and price.
- Vote, then the "You agreed" card puts the outing in your calendar.
- Pilot: Bucharest only, no live transit, no large groups.
Frequently asked
Does WhereTo cost anything?
No. WhereTo is free, with no subscription and no ads. The account is optional.
Do venues pay to appear first?
No. The order comes only from what the two of you want, the time you have and the data the venues publish; there are no paid positions in the top three.
Does it work in other cities?
Bucharest only for now. A second city comes once the pilot confirms it is worth it.
